Permalink The RU-486 controversy is brewing again

The abortionists oppose RU-486, the so called 'abortion pill', because of some deaths associated to it.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decision this week to investigate fatalities linked to the abortion pill commonly known as RU-486 has reignited the contentious political debate surrounding FDA approval of the drug in 2000.

Viagra has cause many more deaths, but these same people don't seem to be as concerned about pulling it off the market.

This pill has made the "Roe vs Wade" argument moot. Even if the law was overturned, women will simply get and use RU-486. They will get it from their doctor, or from the black market. The genie is out, and you can't put it back.

Abortion opponents renew call to pull RU-486

UPDATE:
The rate of death amounts to about one per 100,000 users, which is "a very low level occurrence," said Dr. Paul Blumenthal, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. "That is five times lower than Viagra and it is almost exactly the same as the rate of deaths among women having surgical abortions."
