Permalink How can you support the troops but be against the war?

Some people ask the question "How can you support the troops but be against the war?" This is a common question from people who support the war in Iraq.

This can be easily summarised by the analogy of Steven Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan". The movie glorified the heroism of World War II soldiers, and yet there is no other film that comes close to it in showing the evils and ugliness of war. 'Saving Private Ryan' is an anti-war film, but we all loved and cared about the people in it - and in doing so, Spielberg honored all soldiers everywhere.

I am not intimidated by the terrorists. Only those who are will continue supporting the war in Iraq.
