Nobody here has ever badgered you on your lack of religious belief. That said, show a little respect, won't ya? The man did more for human rights than you could ever hope to aspire. Zip it, you hypocrite.

That does not excuse him from trying to hush up the sex scandals, and worse yet, allow the offending priests to continue their evil ways in other parishes for years until they got caught again. Hypocrites are people who talk peace, or the environment, and then eat beef for dinner.

The pope did no such thing. The bishops in the US, are guilty of such, and it's really terrible. Changes have been made, reparations are being paid, and steps are (admittedly belatedly) being put into place to make sure nothing of that sort will ever happen again. But this includes a strict adherance to church teaching, which, you will not admit, works.

I had a math professor who slept with his students. I don't see you protesting against mathematics.

Hyppocrites are folks who care far more for cows than for human beings. Hypocrites are folks who push for the destruction of embryos so as to advance medicine (and be the miracle drug for all handicapped) and yet ignore the plights of the handicapped who are being starved to death. Want to know a true hypocrite? Look in the mirror, idiot.

The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church. That is a fact. The buck stops with him.
Your mathematics Professor did not head an international body saying he was the leader of such institution.
Ghandi was a far better role model.
