France is an easy target to bash I tuned into Dennis Prager today, on advice from TheJediCharles. My first impression is that he speaks well and has a good authoritative voice. I guess that is good. I did not get a good impression from his website - he looks like a bible thumper, and he does have the occasional reference to God on his show. If I listen longer, maybe he'll grow on me, but not if he keeps up the "you only get morality from god/religion". I do not think morality has anything to do with religion. The first hour of his show did not impress me. Like Savage, and all other right wingers, Prager thinks he has the strangle hold on the truth, and yet his logic doesn't hold up when you put it under the magnifying glass.
Today he was trying to dispell the 'myth' that the US went into Iraq for big business. He said it was the French (and I assume this includes the Germans) who were guilty of doing this. By his reasoning, this is why they did not join the coalition, and that they were hypocrites for that.
If France did not go into the coalition because it had done a lot of investment/business with the Iraqi government under Saddam, then isn't this all the more reason to join the coalition? It would be in their best interest to protect their investments and the large sums of money Iraq owed to it.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't like the French. I'm a Brit, so it comes natural to hate all things french. But in this case, France should be commended for not letting their self interest ties dictate their foreign policy decisions.
I like Ronn Owens better Unfortunately, the Ronn Owens show has the same time slot (9am-noon) so I won't be able to listen to Prager as I might like. Ronn is on KGO radio and though he leans to the left (particularly on social issues) he is a moderate and a 'voice of reason' - which is the name of his book. But both Ronn Owens and Dennis Prager are apologists for Israel. They have that in common. When it comes to Israel vs Palestinians, they are 100% in Israels corner. Not me, I'm only 70% at best.
But at least I now have an alternative radio choice for those times Ronn gets onto a boring subject.

"There is no creator" - the Dalai Lama. These are words of common sense, and it tells me that "spirituality" has nothing in particular to do with a belief in the supernatural. But then, those of us who grew up in the seventies watching "Kung Fu" already knew that being a vegan, atheist who follows the path of the buddha can reach enlightenment.
All kidding aside, what does a vegetarian atheist have to say? Stick around and you'll find out! Politically I'm rather liberal, but I do like to listen to staunch conservative talk show host Michael (the 'Whiner') Savage so I'll probably be mentioning him from time to time in my weblogs. So for now, how about some talk of broccoli, carrots and peas? Recipe's anyone??
