Permalink Why God is an ignoramous idiot

Godless and proud of it!
I just looked at some new blogs on the block. One of them caught my attention. It said we should give praise to God. I had to respond. I said something like this:

Any God that designed a system where the big animal has to eat the small animal, is the mind of a sick and twisted idiot. If I was God, I could have designed a better and more merciful system for planet Earth.

Sometimes, I really like these little sparks of brilliance. It is hardly original though. Gary Numan once said something to that effect. Check this page for his and other great quotes.

Of course, there is no god. People who think there is one are simply afraid/insecure of their own mortality.

  More Joyous Blasphemy
"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." - Abraham Lincoln

"If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be -- a Christian." - Mark Twain

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man." - Thomas Jefferson

"Faith is the commitment of one's consciousness to beliefs for which one has no sensory evidence or rational proof." - Ayn Rand

I Couldn't agree with you more on that one. I'm not a vegetarian (I may change, may not.. we'll see where the wind takes me. Sorry I was raised like this!) and I never quite looked at it that way. It's an interesting viewpoint to say the least. It really reminds me of the problem of evil: If God is omnipotent, all-seeing, and omni-benevolent, then why does evil exist? Some say free-will, but if God truly is all-powerful, then why can't he devise a system where we have free-will and lack the copacity to do evil? Surely if he is all-knowing, he could figure it out... Anyway, that's my two cents and/or two pence(for you UK chaps :P).

Oh and by the way, I didn't notice you were into/are a Buddhist? Either way, that's a good point in my book. I'm pretty young yet and haven't studied it much, but it seems the most promising to me. And yes, hitchhikers are very welcome.

Correction - humans eat both animals that are smaller than themselves and animals that are bigger than themselves. I'm not sure which is worse karma though - one whale for a whole village, or a dozen frogs' legs for each person??? Do we calculate on weight, years lived or individual soul count?
