Expectations I think Dick Cheney will be no pushover tonight. He is very smart, intellectual, and I suspect a good debater. If he doesn't say the 'F' word, he will do good. Of course, body language plays a big part and that is the X-factor.
John Edwards will have a lot to say, and because he was a successful trial lawyer, I expect him to do well also. So I'm expecting a draw in tonights VP debate. Each side will declare their side won.
For the next debate between Kerry and Bush, it's almost a sure win for Kerry. The debate will be on domestic issues, and the American public favours Kerry's position on almost eveything domestic.
The debate
It went as I expected, and it was pretty much a tie. Edwards did shut Cheney up by reminding him that he himself had voted against billions of dollars of defence spending. After that, Cheney did not repeat his three time charge of Kerry voting against defence. Cheney charged that Edwards did not care about Iraqi deaths by excluding them in the statistics of the coalition. This is where Edwards dropped the ball. He could have responded that the Pentagon does not include Iraqi deaths, but under the Kerry administration that would be changed. As expected, both sides are saying their man won. A quick ABC poll had Cheney winning 43% to 35%. A CBS News poll of 178 uncommitted voters found that 41 percent said Edwards won the debate, versus 28 percent who said Cheney won. Thirty-one percent said it was a tie. The CNN web poll had Edward winning 79% to 18% but I wouldn't put much weight on it as it is 'unscientific', as is the FoxNews poll which also said Edwards had won.

"There is no creator" - the Dalai Lama. These are words of common sense, and it tells me that "spirituality" has nothing in particular to do with a belief in the supernatural. But then, those of us who grew up in the seventies watching "Kung Fu" already knew that being a vegan, atheist who follows the path of the buddha can reach enlightenment.
All kidding aside, what does a vegetarian atheist have to say? Stick around and you'll find out! Politically I'm rather liberal, but I do like to listen to staunch conservative talk show host Michael (the 'Whiner') Savage so I'll probably be mentioning him from time to time in my weblogs. So for now, how about some talk of broccoli, carrots and peas? Recipe's anyone??

"As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
