Permalink Low Carb diet, mostly a US phenomenon

The low carb craze in America is not catching on in Europe. And why should it? Obesity is not a problem over there.

The article points out how well over a thousand new products have sprung up to support the low carb diet in America. Isn't it sad, I thought as I read this, that these same companies continue to saturate their products with unhealthy hydrogenated oils... which means they don't care for the health of their customers, they only care about making a profit. Well, that is healthy capitalism, right? But should not capitalism have a conscience? I think Paul Newman would say so.

I have always felt it is mass transit which contributes most to the lack of pandemic obesity in Europe. Just walking across the Hauptbanhoff to catch your connecting train is more exercise than most Americans get in a day.
