The hidden atheist: social camouflage in the modern age
I found out long ago, when in a social setting, to label myself as a buddhist, rather than a atheist. Firstly, it isn't really a lie, I do share many things with buddhists: my vegetarian philosophy is in sync with them, my general outlook on life is the same, and they don't believe in God either. I do consider myself to be of buddha nature.

Secondly, it is far more acceptable to be a buddhist. People usually drop the subject and that is the end of that. If I said I was an atheist, then it usually provokes a discussion where they feel it is their duty to convert me or they feel they have to defend why it is they are right and I'm wrong. Others will just keep their distance from me. Somehow, people don't connect atheism with buddhism. It is socially acceptable as long as one has a 'religion'.

Columnist Robyn E. Blumner's article brought up todays rant:

Junior is not commenting on this post, but rather to a comment I made on his blog site, in which I said, I couldn't understand it. So now I know it wasn't english.
