Who's God is right? Ever since 9/11, I've been wondering if we really can defeat God. How can we fight a war against an enemy who is not afraid to die? Death to them, is a glorious way to ascend to Heaven, to be by the side of God, oh, and have 70 virgins to boot. Make no mistake, this is George W. Bush's holy war.
History repeats? So how can we defeat someone's idea of what God is all about? The Romans failed, despite throwing many to the lion, it was Christianity that prevailed and when Rome faded, it was Emperor Constantine who became its biggest backer, promoting the religion more than all the disciples combined. It was Constantine, it is said, that introduced meat eating as a way to popularise the religion (until about 350 AD, christians did not eat flesh). He poured molten lead down the throats of unbelievers. I guess he was a fanatic.
During the cold war, the clash with the Soviet Union was actually a war of nerves. They were the ungodly nation of ideologists, who believed in communism instead of heaven or an afterlife. This world was all there was to them. They were sane and reasonable people who were kept in check by nuclear weaponry's promise of mutually assured mass destruction. Their totalitarianism, as ugly as it was, could not wipe out faith. Today, the catholic church, as small as it might be, still thrives in Russia and also in China.
If a totalitarian government cannot extinguish faith, then how can we expect to do the same thing of the followers of Bin Laden and al Qaeda? Do all roads lead to Rome?

"There is no creator" - the Dalai Lama. These are words of common sense, and it tells me that "spirituality" has nothing in particular to do with a belief in the supernatural. But then, those of us who grew up in the seventies watching "Kung Fu" already knew that being a vegan, atheist who follows the path of the buddha can reach enlightenment.
All kidding aside, what does a vegetarian atheist have to say? Stick around and you'll find out! Politically I'm rather liberal, but I do like to listen to staunch conservative talk show host Michael (the 'Whiner') Savage so I'll probably be mentioning him from time to time in my weblogs. So for now, how about some talk of broccoli, carrots and peas? Recipe's anyone??

"As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
