Today Bush told people that he was fully justified to make war on Iraq, and that the USA is now safer because of it.
Tonight I am going to see Fahrenheit 9-11. But before I do, let me have a word about Bush's lie.
He has made America spend up to $200 Billion for this war. It costs a billion a day to maintain it. A billion dollars a day.
We are not safer. There are many thousands of chemical plants in this country. They are not in rural areas. They are in deeply populated areas of the USA. They are not protected, as was shown as a 60 minutes team intruded into one earlier this year, and was not stopped by a guard until they were leaving. A terrorist would not go in and out as the 60 minute team - they would be much more discreet. This means we are very vunerable to an attack. Where is the Homeland security on this?
Every commercial aircraft is vunerable to a cheap shoulder-to-missile launcher. The FAA would like to install an anti-missile defense system on each and every aircraft. But that would cost $1 million per plane, and we have a hundred commercial aircrafts. The idea has been struck down by the Administration. Where is the Homeland security on this? Why is Bush being so cheap? One billion dollars would fix this problem and make passengers safe all for the cost of us being one day in Iraq. Yet there is no money for American passenger safety, only money for the safety of Iraqi's.
I have pointed out two very big issues of why we are not safer, and why the money should have been spent here, not abroad. And yet the Democrats are very quiet on Homeland Security. Don't they want to win? And don't you want to be safer?

"There is no creator" - the Dalai Lama. These are words of common sense, and it tells me that "spirituality" has nothing in particular to do with a belief in the supernatural. But then, those of us who grew up in the seventies watching "Kung Fu" already knew that being a vegan, atheist who follows the path of the buddha can reach enlightenment.
All kidding aside, what does a vegetarian atheist have to say? Stick around and you'll find out! Politically I'm rather liberal, but I do like to listen to staunch conservative talk show host Michael (the 'Whiner') Savage so I'll probably be mentioning him from time to time in my weblogs. So for now, how about some talk of broccoli, carrots and peas? Recipe's anyone??

"As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
