Permalink Crash, Bang, Wallop!

"John Kerry Uses A PowerBook" was the headline news on the O'Grady PowerBook Page today. Boy, did that bring out all the right wing creeps. Are there really that many lurking in the Macintosh community? Where did they come from? How long will they stay? Will they go back to where they came from?

Anyway, I had to respond to someone's post.
Here is it...

Tony Martin's rebuttal to 'Lee':

Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in  Yugoslavia - good...
Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq -  bad...

My response: Clinton did not have ties to Halliburton. Bush admin does. Ever heard of the concept "conflict of interest"?

Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia -  good...
Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad...

My response: When you are broke, do you still run up debts on your credit card? That, is the difference. Clinton was fiscally responsible - something Republicans have thrown out the window.

Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

My response: Clinton did not act like a ruthless dictator, but the whole world views Bush as such. Ever heard of diplomacy?

Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim  Albanian terrorists -  good...
Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal  dictator - bad...

My response: That was not the reason Bush gave the American people for invading Iraq. If it was, no one would have agreed to it in the way it was done.

Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good...
Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad...

My response: Clinton and Bush did not bomb anything. It is the US military that did it in both situations. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they screw up (remember the Iran Hostage fiasco under Carter?). They are not perfect.

Clinton commits felonies while in office - good...
Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit -  bad...

My response: Name one felony. After $80 million witchhunt investigation, he was cleared of everything. All they could pin on him was Monica. What a waste of taxpayer money. Bush lands on carrier - more wasteful taxpayer money down the drain.

Clinton says mass graves in Serbia - good...
Entire world says WMD in Iraq - bad...

My response: Excuse me... what WMD? Oh, the ones in your paranoid mind?

No mass graves found in Serbia - good...
No WMD found Iraq - bad...

My response: No WMD when Bush and Rumsfeld declared they KNEW WHERE THEY WERE = a big whopping lie.

Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton -  good...
Economy on upswing under Bush - bad...

My response: Bush was already President elect and Clinton a lame duck President. BTW, the market did not "crash" it was just going down a little. It really plumeted under Bush's taxplan for the rich scheme.

Clinton refuses to take custody of Bin Laden -  good...
World Trade Centers fall under Bush - bad...

My response: The Republicans failed to act on Clintons recommendation to take Bin Laden. Also, the Republicans did not want to freeze al Qaeda assets as was also recommended by Clinton.

Clinton says Saddam has nukes - good...
Bush says Saddam has nukes - bad...

My response: Clinton never said Saddam had nukes. Also, Clinton never said Saddam was a threat to US national security. Even Condileeza Rice and Powell said Saddam was "contained" and posed no threat to anyone - a year later they changed their tune for Bush's war plan. Expain that!

Clinton calls for regime change in Iraq - good...
Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad...

My response: Everyone wanted a regime change, yea, even the French, but only Bush wanted to do it by force.

Terrorist training in Afghanistan under Clinton - good...
Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan -  bad...

My response: Afghanistan was an ally of the US until 9/11. Clinton inherited that situation from Bush's daddy.

Milosevic not yet convicted - good...
Saddam turned over for trial - bad...

My response: Milosevic's trial is an ongoing process. Saddam's has yet to begin

Clinton did not loose his ability to practice law because of Monica. He lost his bar license because he perjured himself. I don't know if that is a felony in a federal court or not. I agree 80 million was a lot of money to spend and I don't know why we bothered. I am not sure that you needed to rebutt the comparison though. I don't see how the two issues relate in the first place. :)

To say the least, the good - bad comparison (I got it in email too) thingy is way overblown. There are more and better arguements, IMHO, than what were presented. I can't give you a lot of credit on this one, Tony. It is easy to "Fisk" crappy logic. :)

BTW, Although I am not a vegetarian and fit well in your "greedy little pig" and "right wing creeps" categories, I enjoy your site and insight. You also inform on topics hard to find in other places. The music is calming, as well.

I have had you on my blogroll for some time. I think my readers can benefit from understanding there is more than one way to approach an issue. Having "conservative values" does not mean you have to always look at things from one point of view and I think a lot of people miss that. Keep posting, please. :)

A simple analysis of the responses show that the blogger comments here fall into the "clinton can do no wrong" and "bush can do nothing right category".

A sure sign of a challenged intellect.

Politically, there is little difference between Bill Clinton and George Bush. Clinton brought about NAFTA and Welfare reform, two big Republican mandates. He was against legalizing illegal drugs, and abandoned the gays in the military issue. George Bush has done some things that Clinton would have been stoned to death on, such as being soft on illegal aliens and giving $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa.

I would say the big difference between them would be, only one of them see nothing wrong in inflicting others with their religious convictions.
